Together with the Airborne Museum, the regional tourist centre RBT-KAN and the municipality of Renkum large picturepanels will be placed along the routes.
We welcome you to the official internet site of the Airborne March!
Here you will find all the information about the Airborne March, the world's largest one-day marching event.
This remembrance march is in commemoration of the Battle of Arnhem 1944 andheld every year on the first Saturday in September at the village of Oosterbeek (near Arnhem) in The Netherlands.
The Airborne March is intended to honour the 1700 British and Polish soldiers and airmen who lost their lives during the Battle of Arnhem and are buried at the Airborne Cemetery at Oosterbeek. The revenues of the Airborne March are used to enable veterans and next of kin with poor means, to come over to The Netherlands and attend the annual Airborne-commemorations in and around Arnhem.
You will be accompanied by military, police, scouting and civilian groups and individual participants from over 17 different countries. With distances of 10, 15, 25 and 40 kilometres, it is an "all-age"-march.
The routes are laid out through the several villages of the municipality of Renkum in the Netherlands, along the battlefields and drop zones of the operation Market Garden of September 1944.
Start and finish are in the sports park Hartenstein (behind the Airborne Museum) at Oosterbeek.
We have decided not to give you any information about the Battle of Arnhem or the Operation Market Garden on this site, as there are much better equipped websites on this subject available. If you follow the links on our 'links'-page, you will get there straight away.
Please click one of the buttons to navigate through our site and we hope to meet you on the first Saturday in September at Oosterbeek.
The 65th jubilee edition was covered by TV Gelderland and can be viewed on YouTube.
